Larnaca's
long beach front is lined with hotels and apartment buildings. There are several
major historical sites within the city. Above left is the Larnaka Fort refurbished
by the Ottomans in 1600s.
Most
tourists will visit Larnaca first, as the main international airport is nearby.
The city is close to the beaches in the east and it is only an hours drive up
into the mountains to Lefkosia. An active commercial port, it is home to the
island's largest foreign national population. One can stroll along the Finikoundes(palm
trees) Promenade enjoying the sights or sit at the outdoor cafes and let the
parade pass by you.
